The Golden Summer Wedding

(100 guests – photos by Andy & Szerdi Photography)

It was a perfect English summer day for Helen and Bede’s July wedding…

After a traditional wedding ceremony at the pretty village church in nearby Monxton, the newly married couple arrived at our Victorian walled garden for an afternoon of drinks and canapes in the sunshine with their families and friends. Helen and Bede had hired garden furniture and parasols for the garden, which added to the relaxed atmosphere, and there was a soft drinks station filled with kilner jars for guests to serve themselves; just perfect for a hot summers day. The bridesmaids wore straw hats, and parasols were used to keep cool in the heat! We loved that the bridal party felt so at home in our venue having come to our December wreath making workshops together.

When the party moved to our Courtyard area, they found the Carriage Room filled with colourful seasonal flowers, including a wonderful flower cloud which created a beautiful focal point. As an extra special personal touch, Helen made the napkins herself and they were also a gift for guests to take home with them… especially impressive as Helen was completing a phd whilst also wedding planning!

A note on flowers... although florist Sophie, of Flowers with Wild Abandon, has recently relocated to Shropshire, her mother Clare is continuing to grow organic, seasonal cutting flowers in our walled garden which couples are able to use in bouquets or buy in buckets for do-it-yourself wedding flowers.

The couple drew on Helen’s Namibian heritage when it came to the catering; they worked with catering company Bread & Butter who cooked amazing boerewors sausages over flame in the courtyard, which were served with all the traditional accompaniments for a memorable African-style feast. We always enjoy working with Amanda and Lewis from Bread & Butter Catering; they coordinate brilliantly on the day and are really hands-on. They also have a horse box bar which is a great addition to our former stables!

In the evening, the party danced the night away to live music from The Brogues (from Entertainment Nation), and feasted on delicious carrot cake, homemade by the bride.

As well as hiring all our on-site accommodation (the main house, cottage and huts), Helen and Bede arranged for Jojo Bell Tents to set up their beautiful bell tents in our glamping field. This set the wedding up perfectly for a whole weekend of celebrations, especially with lots of guests travelling from abroad for the occasion.

"We were absolutely delighted with our wedding day at Kingsettle Stud! It had such a quintessential English country feel and formed the perfect backdrop to our day. Susie was such a great help in the lead up and on the day making the planning and day run so seamlessly. We could not recommend her and Kingsettle Stud as a venue enough. It was absolutely perfect in every way and exceeded all our expectations! We couldn’t be happier and had just the best time!" Helen + Bede
